A Rare Prai and Pong Saneah Amulet from Ajarn Best
This is an unusual piece from Ajarn Best but it may have been assembled using his materials by a Luksit, although the script on the case and the style of casing still puts it as reasonably old. Ajarn Best is a local legend, a child prodigy for magic when starting as a young monk and gaining fame very quickly indeed. He died at a very young age after foreseeing his own death and remains an enigma to this day.
This is a great construction that consists of bone powders from a single female source (as is traditional in Northern Thailand), which was mixed with a collection of Wahn. Into this has been pushed a hand carved Inn Khoo, and two pieces of bone. The back is a layer of pressed hand made Pong powder for Saneah. This form of Pong Powder is acquired from the writing of specific forms of magic in chalk along with a structured kata, which is then rubbed out. If an expert at this process, that powder can then be used, as is the case here to bring Saneah to the bearer. This is one of those odd forms of magic that contains both mystery and energy, and would serve the bearer well.
This is a very unusual piece.
A nice size at 2.75" in its original case and it comes with the Namo Dtassa kata.
Classic Prai Magic.
