The Taa Phran family of deities is from Southern Thai magic and this is a rare type known as Taa See, and this has been made to order by Ajarn using the traditional method by Ajarn Plian, one of the Masters of the Nora magic of the South. The family of the types of Taa Phran are quite unlike other deities and seem more akin potent land spirits that have been raised to deities. They are firmly rooted in the Southern Thai traditions and culture and are currently very popular for great fortune in Thailand. This one has been carved by hand from Takien wood, and then blessed with applied Yants by Ajarn Plian, who is a Master of Southern magic, and it is oddly potent.
Taa See seems to be often represented with a texture to her skin as is the case here and she is the queen of lady ghosts. With being a higher deity than a ghost she is the boss and can be called upon to control all female prai. The masks like this that are made from wood are rare and the ones from Takien wood the most rare of all (it is often Kanun wood). Each type comes with their own kata and they all enjoy the usual offerings with cigarettes and alcohol on special occasions. For great fortune, strong protection and a raise in social status.
This mask measures 2" and there were only three made to order. You don't see Taa See masks presented in this way and it comes with a kata for use.
