I found these yesterday at the dealer of Phra Ajarn O, and they were the last few. It is one of his classic pieces, and such a clever idea.
Phra Ajarn O's work can be patchy but he is brilliant at things of this kind. These are carved from mystical bone, which has been used since ancient times as it is regarded as an auspicious item. It supports destiny, authority and eminence, as well as brings compassion from those around you, and protecting from malicious forces.
These are akin to an actual finger as the inside has the powdered remains of a child that died in the womd, which is mixed with a Tai Yai Yaa (a mixture of herbs and plants). The use of these remains is dictated by a specific astrology, and it took Phra Ajarn many years to source this supernatural substance. It was collected and empowered by a Tai Yai Master and it involved him gently biting off the two forefingers of the child to make the specific mix for this magic.
This finger can also be used to point to influence others and is designed to point at a beloved person to make them think of you, to point at subordinates to obey you, and to point at a ghost or entity to make it fear you. As with all child products, it also brings great fortune to the bearer.
