Tooth Relics with Corpse Cloth - and of course the price is for each of them.

This is a type of relic that is now rarely seen as they are no longer a popular item, with most coming from before the mid 80's. If later than that, they are froma. beloved monk of some stature. The disciples of the Arahant monks of the great generation of magician monks used to keep their teeth (either carved or not), their hair, tears, chewed betel, robe, hair bone and even their flesh to be worn. If their remains produced Phra Thaat, they had to be kept on the altar only, although those were generally held by their Wat. The carving of teeth was particularly popular in the northern Lanna region, from where most of these originate.

These two teeth came in a an old tin with some corpse cloth from the monk's funeral. On asking Ajarn Apichai to prepare these, it turned out that there were chips of bone from the same monk in the corpse cloth, which we did not see on acquiring them. In this case, Ajarn decided to separate the bone for a future use, and to only use the cloth to back each tooth as the power is already enough.

There seems little understanding of these things and how important they are now.

High monks have exceptional Samathi, and can help the bearer in their pursuit of it. It also has a cooling power and the ability to calm the mind along with exceptional levels of Metta Mahaniyom, bringing support from the people close by that leads it to being great for business success.

Both of these teeth are carved and have the corpse cloth at the back.

The larger case measures 1.75", and the smaller one 1.5", both with silver cases. These need praising as a high deity, one level below the Buddha.

This is one of my favourite amulet types, and I wear a carved tooth from Kruba Wong.

Tooth Relics with Corpse Cloth

  • Important relics include any part of the monk's body, but his hair, teeth, saliva and tears are what are most sought after. It is an old practice, and these items should be valued above all others to get us through the coming times. These work for us and we do not intrude on that process, they are there to help, as monks are in life.
