Fantastic Monk Beads from Wat Huay Tom - blessed by Ajarn Tui
I thought we should have some blessed beads on the site following a visit to the temple of Kruba Wong - Wat Huay Tom - where they also make fantastic Phra Kham beads. As with most Phra Kham, these are used to count 108 kata, but now that they are blessed they also bring Metta and Protection to the bearer.
   I had quite a few spare Phra Kham too, and decided to get them all blessed at once, which was an interesting process. Ajarn laid out the Phra Kham on a blessed cloth on a strong cushion and started the kata. Then he got to the point where his back went very straight for more kata (all from memory I might add), and the last part of the blessing involved him pressing on the beads in sets depending on which ones they were. It's rare to see this blessing.
   These are fantastic beads that were hand carved using a wood from the seeds of a Buddhist tree that grew at the temple and measure 37". These are one of the traditional seeds used for Thai monk beads and feel wonderful. The more you use these and the older they get, the more they look like ivory.
   There are 4 of these and after these I have other sets, which will be listed from the more expensive to the cheaper ones at the end. The last few might even be free, let's see, but these need using rather than being in a cupboard.
