The Bespoke Nang Mai Nature Spirit by Ajarn Apichai - Mae Tanee/Mae Takian
   Ajarn Apichai is a sublime magical creature who has extensive knowledge, and this is the latest example of it. Here Ajarn persuades a Nature Spirit to reside in an amulet for your benefit, and this is a bespoke service, so you are tied to a powerful spirit.  The primary source of Wicha for this work was taught to Ajarn by Kruba Sitthi, who was in his 90's at the time. Ingredients and Materials 
   The primary sacred ingredients used for this type of amulet include soils from 7 temples, 7 cemeteries, the 4 corners of the city and from the 8 directions. Ashes from 7 cemeteries, Prai powder from those who died violent deaths, Prai powder from women who died while pregnant, Prai powder from those who died on a Saturday and were cremated on a Tuesday, and Panneng powder. Other ingredients include one-eyed coconut shell powder, 108 types of sacred herbs, Wan Saneh Chan Hom, Wan Kai Daeng, Wan Sao Long, Thao Wan Long and sacred herb flower powder. The hand made powders in these include Ittijae powder, Maharaj powder, and Pathamang powder. It also includes the four elemental minerals, and over 100 other types of ancient sacred powders!
   These materials are blended as the primary mixture to press into the shape of the amulet, in which the nature spirit will reside. A small hole is intentionally left open for the Phli Kam ritual to capture the natural spirit itself. Wherever the ritual is performed, soil or objects from that specific location will be filled into the hole to act as a ’home’ for the entity of that place. As each of these are different, the finished design will come from the psyche of Ajarn Apichai.
Tree Spirits (Nang Mai)
   There are many types of Nang Mai (female tree spirits), such as Nang Tanee (Banana Tree Spirit), Nang Takian (Hopea Tree Spirit), Phi Song Nang (The Two Maiden Spirits), and various other spirits inhabiting large, sacred trees that fit the traditional classification of tree spirits. These spirits originate naturally and possess inherent supernatural power without needing any consecration rites. Classified as attendants to Rukkha Devata (tree deities), their duties are to protect forests and trees, as well as to oversee the abundance and fertility of nature.
   To perform an offering ritual (Phli) to invite these spirits into amulets, practitioners typically choose a large tree recognised in traditional texts as harbouring a spirit. They then perform a ritual asking permission to transfer a portion of that spiritual energy into the amulet. Each type of spirit possesses unique powers.
Nang Tanee: Renowned for bestowing wealth, luck, prosperity, and success. She offers protective energy akin to a mother protecting and giving unconditional care to her child. Once this spirit is invited, practitioners recite specific incantations tailored to her unique virtues to enhance her power even further.
Nang Takian: Known for her power over mind control and enchantment. Legend holds that she lures lost travellers deeper into the woods to end their lives at her tree, turning them into substitutes or spirit servants to boost her power. Spirits of this type possess immense power and can assist in various ways—including powerful charm and attraction, romantic passion, active protection from harm, and premonitions of danger. The more frequently offerings are made to her, the higher the chance of sensing her presence. Once invited, additional incantations are recited to amplify her specific supernatural abilities.
The Difference Between Natural Tree Spirits vs. Amulets made from Prai Tanee/Prai Takian   
   Performing a ritual offering (Phli) to invite a naturally occurring spirit is much more difficult. It is challenging because the spirit may refuse to give its consent. Furthermore, these spirits can be hard to control; if the ritual is performed incorrectly, it can be dangerous to the Ajarn. However, the spirit obtained is a true, natural spirit that has accumulated power for no less than 500 to 1,000 years, making its energy exceptionally potent.
   On the other hand, amulets created from Prai Tanee or Prai Takian ingredient powders use material sacred "seeds" (base elements) to invoke a brand-new spirit through incantations. This spirit is newly generated from the four elements, the five aggregates, and the 32 physical attributes via magic, utilising the ingredient mixture as a catalyst.Because it is a newly created spirit, its energy cannot be compared to that of a natural spirit. Even if consecrated continuously for 10 years, its power will never match the raw spiritual energy of a spirit from nature.
   This is rare and important magic that takes time to dry as it is a larger talisman. The example shown above is of a Nang Tanee made from Prai powders, and we will use the same mould, but Ajarn will decorate each one differently depending on his image of the spirit within. These amulets like offerings of lipstick, make up, sprays of perfume, ladies clothes, and then beer, wine or spirits. They love a drink.
